Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a validation system, which is intended to prevent the so-called e-mail spoofing where an email message is sent from one e-mail, but to seem as being sent from a different, usually with the idea to fraud the recipient for some reason. When SPF protection is activated for a domain, a unique record is created for it in the Domain Name System and all the DNS servers worldwide get it. The record includes all the e-mail servers that are allowed to send authentic messages from an email address within the domain. When an email is sent, the first DNS server it encounters checks the SPF record and if its sending server is permitted, the message is sent to the targeted destination. In case, however, the sending server is not contained in the SPF record for the given domain, the email message will not be sent and it will be removed. Whenever you employ this service, it'll prevent third parties from sending spam that look as if they have been sent from you.

SPF Protection in Web Hosting

If you host your domains in a web hosting account on our end and we handle the e-mails for them, you will be able to activate SPF protection for them with a couple of clicks inside your Hepsia Control Panel. This service is accessible in a section of its own where you're able to see which domain names are currently secured. For those that are not, you can enable the SPF protection service and set up a number of things during this process - the hostnames of the mail servers that are allowed to send messages from your mailboxes, the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of these servers, as well as to set a rule that messages can be sent only if your domain names use our MX records. The last solution is the most secure one, and you can use it when we handle the e-mail addresses for your domains and you are not using another e-mail supplier. The newly created records will be activated within 24 hours and nobody will be able to fake the FROM field in an email by using your addresses.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you host your domain names in a semi-dedicated server account from us, you can employ the SPF protection feature as a part of the conventional group of services that you'll get with this type of web hosting. Starting the protection will require just several easy steps within the Hepsia Control Panel, thus even when you have never employed this type of feature before, you will not have any kind of troubles. Using a very intuitive interface, you'll just have to enter the info of the mail server that will be authorized to send messages from your addresses - its hostname (mail.server.com) and IP address (IPv4 or IPv6). Once the recently made record propagates, no one will be able to counterfeit any e-mail address for that particular domain name and send e-mails from a server different from the one you have typed in. This does not necessarily have to be our mail server, still when we manage your email messages, you'll be able to allow one more level of security by picking an option that email messages can be send out from addresses @your-domain.com only if the domain employs our MX records. Our tech support staff can help you 24/7 in case you have any kind of questions about this service.
